Christians Who Hate Jews

Description: Christians who hate Jews
CHRISTIANS WHO HATE JEWS
By GIULIO MEOTTI, YNET–
A few weeks ago a highly influential Church of England vicar, Stephen Sizer, promoted a website that supports Holocaust denial and warns of a Zionist conspiracy controlling the world. Reverend Sizer just received the support of the Bishop of Guildford Sizer, Reverend Christopher Hill, a former chaplain to the Queen, following calls for him to be suspended for linking to the site.
Sizer used his Facebook page to link to the piece on American website The Ugly Truth, which claims to highlight “Zionism, Jewish extremism and a few other nasty items making our world uninhabitable today.” The site also runs cartoons of Holocaust deniers and supports Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The Bishop of Willesden was suspended in 2010 after using his Facebook page to make inappropriate gossip remarks about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. But in the face of such blatant anti-Jewish hatred, the Church of England took Sizer’s side.
The case is severe because Anglicanism is not just another Protestant denomination; rather, it’s the official UK Church headed by the Queen. Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, is the spiritual head of 77 million Christians worldwide.
The hostility to IDF as “Herod’s soldiers operating in Bethlehem today” (King Herod ordered his troops to kill all the Jewish babies in and around Bethlehem.)
Sizer promoted boycotts of companies on the basis that they “channel their profits to the Zionist agenda.” Sizer’s book, “Christian Zionism: Road-map to Armageddon?”, which has been endorsed by leading British and American bishops, rejects the eternalness of God’s promises to the Jewish people and revives the obscurantist anti-Jewish theology known as “supersessionism.”
‘Israel an illegal regime’
Sizer’s case is not isolated. In 2006 the UK Church reviewed its investments in companies with ties to Israel’s presence in the territories. Bishop Riah El-Assal, the Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem, is a well-known apologist for Palestinian terrorism. Anglican cleric Naim Ateek is the founder of the notoriously anti-Israel, Jerusalem-based Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Center, which promotes a theology severing any link between God and the Jews.
Sizer is one of the major organizers of the “Christ at the Checkpoint 2012 Conference,” which the Bible College of Bethlehem will host in March. The impressive range of theologians and pastors from churches located in the United States make the gravity of the upcoming conference and Sizer’s important position much clearer. Samuel Rodriguez, President of the US National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, “spiritual adviser” to Bill Clinton Tony Campolo, and President of the World Evangelical Alliance and Asia Evangelical Alliance, Sang-Bok David Kim, will all attend the event.
The “Bethlehem Call” manifesto, which serves as platform for the Bethlehem 2012 Conference, has just been published on the websites of the World Council of Churches, the Global Ministries of the United Church of Christ and the Disciples of Christ. It defines Israel as an “illegal regime” and a “crime against humanity” and promotes “international boycott, divestment and sanctions campaigns” against Israel.
In the words of UK columnist Melanie Phillips, these are “Christians who hate the Jews.”
Many UK clerics are now saying openly that the Jewish State should never have been founded at all. In 1190, British Christians slaughtered York’s Jews after calling them “serpens antiquus qui vocatur Diabolus et Satans.” Now their Intifada from Heaven is breathing new life into a kind of demonology that bans Israel from the family of nations.
Giulio Meotti, a journalist with Il Foglio, is the author of the book A New Shoah: The Untold Story of Israel’s Victims of Terrorism

Oregon State House of Representatives Passes Iran Divestment Legislation

At approximately 11:45 AM today the Oregon State House of Representatives made history by passing Iran Divestment Legislation on a unanimous vote of 57 to 0. Special thanks goes to State Representatives Jim Weidner (R-Yamhill, 24th District) and Mitch Greenlick (D-Portland, 33rd District). Jim and his chief of staff Jameson Gideon worked tirelessly on this bill for more than a year, and Mitch was extremely helpful in cosponsoring the bill and persuading others to support it as well.

The psychological effect of this kind of legislation on the Iranian drive for nuclear weapons is huge. Just passing it helps send the Iranian Rial, their national currency, in to a faster and faster tail spin with a resultant effect on their economy. Iran will have to choose. Their national economy, or the bomb. Next stop for the bill: The Oregon State Senate, where we hope for passage there as well. Then, on to the Governor's desk for his signature.

Obama administration to seek waiver on UNESCO funding ban

WASHINGTON (JTA) -- The Obama administration formally announced its intention to ask Congress to waive a ban on funding UNESCO over its recognition of Palestinian statehood.
"The Department of State intends to work with Congress to seek legislation that would provide authority to waive restrictions on paying the U.S. assessed contributions to UNESCO," says a footnote in the budget that the White House submitted to Congress this month.
The footnote was quoted in a press release issued Wednesday by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), the chairwoman of the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, who says she plans to oppose such a waiver.
U.S. funding for UNESCO, the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization, was stopped late last year because of laws banning U.S. funding of any international organization that recognizes Palestinian statehood in the absence of a peace agreement with Israel.
The Palestinians launched a bid last year to achieve statehood recognition through the U.N. and its affiliates.
The bid's virtually only success was with UNESCO, which granted the Palestinians membership. But after the U.S. stopped funding for the body, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned against Palestinian efforts to push for recognition in other U.N. bodies.
At the time, State Department officials had suggested they would seek a waiver on the funding ban.
Ros-Lehtinen said that waiving the provision could start the statehood ball rolling again.
"Any effort to walk back this funding cutoff will pave the way for the Palestinian leadership’s unilateral statehood scheme to drive on, and sends a disastrous message that the U.S. will fund UN bodies no matter what irresponsible decisions they make," she said in a statement.

E. Jerusalem tourist center approved amid criticism

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- A Jerusalem committee approved a tourist center in eastern Jerusalem amid criticism from residents and left-wing groups.
The Jerusalem District Planning and Construction Committee on Monday approved a visitors' center and tourism compound at the City of David National Park in Silwan, a predominantly Palestinian town with a population of 31,000.
Silwan residents and left-wing organizations called approval of the plan another step in the "Judaization" of Silwan, according to Haaretz. Some 400 Jews live there.
The public has 60 days to lodge complaints against the compound.
Following the committee's decision, a playground and community center was razed to make way for the complex.
The tourism center was the brainchild of Elad, an organization working to settle Jews in Silwan, which also runs the City of David. It will be built on stilts so that visitors can view archeological discoveries below. The plan has the support of Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat.
Artifacts from the Roman, Late Byzantine and Second Temple periods have been discovered at the site.

Iran loads its own fuel rods into nuclear reactor

(JTA) -- Iran has begun loading domestically made nuclear fuel rods into a research reactor in Tehran.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad placed the first Iranian-produced rod into the reactor, according to the official government IRNA news agency.
The rods were produced after Iran failed to come to an agreement with Western nations on purchasing nuclear fuel for the reactor, which is used for nuclear medical treatment.
Iran also announced Wednesday that its Natanz uranium enrichment plant was using domestically manufactured centrifuges with higher speed and higher production capacity.
Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful, domestic uses, while the West is concerned that it is working to create a nuclear weapon. The West has placed tough sanctions on Iran as it tries to get access to the facilities in order to monitor Iran's nuclear program, while Israel reportedly has not ruled out a strike on the country's nuclear production sites.

According to this article, the stockpile of bomb making matreials was meant for a mega attack against a Jewish target...

Iranian national believed responsible for Thai blasts

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Bombs that exploded in a Bangkok house being shared by an Iranian national were being prepared for a large-scale attack against an Israeli target, unnamed Israeli officials are quoted as saying.
The unnamed officials made their remarks to the Israel media on Tuesday.
The Iranian national, who shared the home in a residential neighborhood of the Thailand capital with two other non-Thais, was seriously injured by a bomb he was carrying shortly after the house exploded Tuesday morning. He had thrown a hand grenade at police as they pursued him following the home explosion, but did not throw it far enough and was caught in the blast, which tore off his legs, according to reports.
At least four Thai citizens also were injured in the blasts, which occurred several blocks from the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok.
The explosions came a day after Israeli diplomats were targeted by bombs in New Delhi and Tbilisi; the India blast injured the wife of an Israeli diplomat. Israel has blamed the attacks on Iran.
"The attempted attack in Bangkok proves once again that Iran and its proxies are continuing to perpetrate terrorism," Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in a statement from Singapore. "The recent attacks are yet another example of this."
Barak, who spent a few hours in Bangkok on Sunday, also said that "Iran and Hezbollah are elements of unrelenting terrorism and are endangering the stability not only of the region but of the entire world."
Last month, 400 boxes of bomb-making material were found hidden in boxes for electric fans in a shop near Bangkok. Police learned of the cache from a Lebanese man arrested Jan. 13 who was alleged to be working with Hezbollah to plan a bombing attack. He told Thai police that the material was to be smuggled out of Thailand and used in an attack in another country.
